Trees and Plants

The park has some of the most beautiful trees and plants in the area and they are completely in abundance.

The tree canopy can sometimes completely block out the sun and fortunately, some of the trees are quite old and historic. It’s one of the few parts of Long Island where you see trees that really take up the skyline and provide an amazing forest canopy.

You’ll see some wonderful forest paths in these photos as well as trees that certainly show their size and age.

Cold Spring Harbor State Park has some of the most gorgeous and historic trees, and walking down the path can make you feel isolated from the rest of Long Island.

These trees with graffiti are at the end of the trail, but the roots alongside the trail, as you can see below, are absolutely gorgeous.

There are tons of trees like this, crunched together with beautiful roots and beautiful foundations.

The trees overhead have a wonderful canopy as you can see in the photo above. These particular pines are reaching out to the sky as well as parallel to each other in a wonderful, tight formation.

Lastly, there are beautiful plants throughout the trail with quite a few specimens of rhododendron. Come in the spring to see it all in bloom.
